2 charged with attempting to steal copper from abandoned hospital

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two men were taken into custody early Thursday morning after a high speed pursuit across Nashville following their reported attempted theft of copper from an abandoned hospital.

Officers were on patrol just after midnight at the old TriStar Skyline Behavioral Health facility off Neelys Bend Road in Madison where a large amount of copper had been pulled from the building.

A white van approached the empty facility from a side road and officers attempted to stop it for being on private property with a trespass waiver. According to court documents, the van took off at a high rate of speed toward Gallatin Pike while running multiple red lights and stop signs.
