Jesuit High School must stop now before abandoning its all-boys mission | Opinion

On Oct. 4, it will be one year since Jesuit High School’s board of trustees announced that it would end the school’s all-boys educational model and become coeducational. The decision was among the most consequential in the school’s more than 60-year history.

A year later, questions surrounding the decision have not gone away. They have only grown.

Opposition among alumni, parents and other members of the Jesuit community has intensified. An online petition urging school leaders to reconsider the decision has garnered nearly 1,500 signatures. Alumni and donors have offered $100,000 to fund an independent study of the decision, and they pledged more than $9 million to help preserve Jesuit’s all-boys model…
