Woman arrested at Mar-a-Lago after claiming Sen. Tom Cotton invited her

PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman who claimed she was meeting U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton at Mar-a-Lago was instead met with handcuffs for trespassing.

According to a Palm Beach Police Department probable cause affidavit, officers responded to Mar-a-Lago on Wednesday, Sept. 30, for a trespassing incident. When officers arrived, the U.S. Secret Service told them agents had stopped Rita Coday in the sweep-tent parking lot within the Mar-a-Lago security zone.

The affidavit says Coday told agents she had been invited to Mar-a-Lago by Cotton. The Secret Service requested her arrest because she had entered the security zone after receiving a written trespass warning from Mar-a-Lago on Sept. 23, according to police…
