AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Potter County Sheriff’s Office is urging people to use extreme caution near the Canadian River following recent, extended rainfall that caused flooding and significantly elevated water levels.
The Canadian River reached moderate flood stage at 10 feet at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The river is now coming down.
The latest forecast for the Canadian River gauge 19 miles north of Amarillo showed the river at 3.86 feet late Friday morning and projected it to rise to about 4.7 feet Saturday morning. That is below the 6-foot action stage and 7-foot minor flood stage…
