Proposed County budget slashes jobs and closes pools

St. Louis County residents could see more service cuts next year under County Executive Sam Page’s final budget.

It eliminates 139 jobs. It closes the county’s last two pools, at the North County Recreation Complex and the Pavilion at Lemay. It scales back park rangers. County offices would stay closed on Fridays.

Page says the budget comes down to one question, “How do we preserve services residents expect with the available revenue to pay for them.”…
