Firefighter injured after floor collapses in Aurora house fire

DENVER (KDVR) — An Aurora firefighter was injured after the floor collapsed in a major house fire not long after midnight on Friday, the Aurora Fire Rescue announced in a press release.

Around 12:36 a.m., Aurora911 received a report about heavy smoke filling the street and flames possibly coming from the backyard of a home in the 16000 block of East Ithaca Place.

The first crew to arrive, Engine 6, saw a working structure fire and upgraded the incident response. Smoke could be seen coming from all vents of the home. Engine 10 arrived and established a water line, while Engine 6 initiated an interior fire attack.

Shortly after the crews entered the house, a mayday was declared when a chunk of the floor collapsed, and a firefighter went down with it…
