Newberg council votes to remove items at flagpole if left after memorial, vigil

A proposal to amend the city’s policy on long-term memorials at the city’s flagpole on First Street received the blessing of the majority of the city council in late September, paving the way for their outright ban.

Mayor Bill Rosacker and Councilors Robyn Wheatley and Peggy Kilburg voted to approve the amendment to a resolution allowing the memorials that was adopted by the city in January.
