The United States Coast Guard (USCG) announced on Saturday that it lost contact with a Gulfstream aircraft en route from Bermuda to Boston, carrying six people on board. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported the loss of communication early Saturday morning, prompting the Coast Guard to launch air and surface search teams.

The USCG Northeast division confirmed the ongoing search via Twitter, stating: “US Coast Guard is searching for a Gulfstream aircraft with six persons on board. Federal Aviation Administration reported losing contact with the aircraft early Saturday morning, USCG air and surface crews have launched in search of the aircraft. Updates will be provided here as info becomes available.”

The plane, registered as C-GJRP and owned by Latitude Air Ambulance based in Hamilton, Ontario, departed Bermuda International Airport at 11:41 p.m. ET on Friday.

Current search efforts are concentrated off the coast of Nantucket. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the lost contact or the identities of those aboard.

This incident follows a recent tragic disappearance involving another small aircraft. On September 7, a PA-34 Piper carrying four relatives vanished while flying from the Bahamas to Miami. The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported losing contact with the plane approximately 13 miles west of Andros Island.

Among those on the flight were 80-year-old Mario Lamar, his wife Lili Lamar, and two grandchildren. Despite Lamar’s extensive aviation experience spanning over 40 years, all four were found deceased following a joint search operation involving family members, civilians, and the US Coast Guard. The family expressed gratitude toward those who assisted in the recovery and emphasized their efforts to bring their loved ones home with dignity.

The recovered bodies were handed over to local authorities and transported to New Providence. Police officials have announced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
