The Pacific Airshow kicked off Friday in the heat in Huntington Beach. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the aviation spectacle that will feature civilian and fighter jet demonstrations, aerobatics and parachutists.
One of the highlights will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbird F-16s performing in a diamond formation.
Another aircraft that will make an appearance is a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor. It’s a stealth plane — but certainly not silent.
“I think the main points that everyone should be aware of is definitely have some hearing protection because the aircraft is incredibly loud,” said Staff Sgt. Guy Smith III, part of the team that maintains the aircraft. “Both the engines together are pushing about 70,000 pounds of upthrust.. so she’s a loud one.”…
