ABILENE, Texas — Abilene High turned its homecoming night into a statement win, shutting out Amarillo Caprock 42-0.
The Longhorns brought pressure early, forcing Eagles quarterback Tristan Beal to run on back-to-back plays before Abilene High was forced to punt on fourth down. But the Eagles defense answered with a stop of its own, forcing a turnover on downs and setting a physical tone.
On the ensuing drive, Boss Hines broke through a tackle and fought for extra yards to push Abilene High into Longhorn territory. Not long after, Beal connected with John Rangel, who came from the outside back inside, turned upfield and took it in for a touchdown. The extra point was good, giving Abilene High a 7-0 lead.
