A motorcyclist is dead after slamming into the back of a Chevrolet Tahoe on Shader Road in Orlando, and the SUV’s driver didn’t stick around to help — he or she fled the scene in the Tahoe, leaving troopers to track down the vehicle using a tag number a witness managed to jot down.
The crash happened on Shader Road west of Aquablue Way in Orange County, according to the WFTV. The Suzuki motorcycle and the Tahoe were both traveling east on Shader Road, with the motorcyclist riding behind the SUV. When the Tahoe began slowing down, the rider failed to slow in time and struck its rear end, troopers said.
The impact threw the rider from the bike. Emergency crews rushed the motorcyclist to Orlando Regional Medical Center, which operates Central Florida’s only Level 1 Trauma Center for adult patients, a designation that explains why crews chose that hospital for the catastrophic injuries involved, according to Click Orlando. The hospital later pronounced the rider dead.
