SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A thick plume of smoke was seen in the area of Shelter Island Marina Saturday afternoon after a boat caught fire.
The incident was reported around 12:10 p.m. in the 600 slip area at 2091 Shelter Island Drive, just north of the marina.
Harbor Police vessels quickly responded to the burning 60-foot vessel, with San Diego Fire-Rescue (SDFD) crews joining the efforts.
“We had a unified commands established, so Harbor PD — our counterparts —they were able to get their fire boats on scene quickly and actually get hose lines off their boats on the fire,” said SDFD Battalion Chief Josh Slatinsky.
