FLOOD WATCH FOR METRO & NORTHSHORE
A flood watch is in effect through Sunday evening across much of southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi as repeated rounds of thunderstorms threaten to produce up to 10 inches of rain in some areas.
The National Weather Service expanded the watch Saturday afternoon to cover portions of 21 Louisiana parishes and three additional Mississippi counties. A previously issued watch remains in effect for Mississippi’s Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties.
Forecasters expect widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches across the Louisiana portion of the watch and in Pearl River, Pike and Walthall counties in Mississippi. Isolated totals could reach 6 to 8 inches…
