- Former Charleston County Magistrate James B. Gosnell Jr. sold his home to the city of Charleston for $610,000 after pleading guilty to federal charges related to child sexual abuse material.
WEST ASHLEY — The city has purchased a home from a former Charleston County magistrate judge who pleaded guilty to owning and sharing child sexual abuse material. It expects to use the property to address flooding issues in the area.
James B. Gosnell Jr. sold his property at 1233 Bamboo Dr., to the city for the appraised value of $610,000, according to a public deed document dated Sept. 21. The home is not far off Old Towne Road, in the area near the Wespanee and Heathwood Old Towne neighborhoods.
The city previously set aside $2.5 million to address flooding and drainage issues near Bamboo and Ashland drives that neighbors had raised concerns about, spokesperson Deja Knight McMillan told The Post and Courier…
