North Myrtle Beach turns purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month kickoff

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC. (WPDE) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and North Myrtle Beach is marking it by turning purple to show support for victims and survivors.

The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club gathered at North Myrtle Beach City Hall for the “Paint the Town Purple” kickoff, an event that included Tracy Sauer, the chairperson for Paint the Town Purple and the North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club, who shared her personal experience with domestic violence.

“When I got married the first time around, I married what I knew. Domestic violence, in my case, was very coercive, very controlling, financially controlling, emotionally abusive, verbally abusive. It really, it leaves scars that you don’t see,” Sauer said…
