‘Through the Decades’: West High hosts car show to celebrate its own history, raise funds for student base

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Utah’s oldest public high school hosted its inaugural car show to raise support for its students.

The West High “Through the Decades Classic & Custom Car Show” serves as a free community event that celebrates over 100 years of school pride.

“This building is 104 years old, and that means we’ve had an awful lot of students coming through this building and learning, moving on, and making a huge difference in the world around us,” said, Shannon Wilson, an assistant principal at West High. “We just want our community and our alumni to know that they belong here, that their stories are important, that we value all the great things that they’ve done for us, and that they’re inspiring our current students and leading them into the future.”

Students at the school participated in the event by showing the vehicles in period attire. The vehicles were shown by decade, giving the attendees a chance to see the changes in cars over the years…
