Unknown motorist prevents fire from spreading at DeWitt bakery

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The actions of an unknown motorist helped prevent a fire at a DeWitt bakery from becoming a much larger incident Sunday morning.

According to a news release from DeWitt Police Chief Bryan Curtis, an officer was on patrol around 5:30 a.m. when the motorist flagged them down after they saw flames inside the Sweetie-licious Bakery, located in the 100 block of North Bridge Street.

The officer informed Clinton County Central Dispatch of the fire, which sent first responders to the scene. The officer then evacuated two residents who lived in the apartments above the bakery while using a fire extinguisher.

Firefighters from the DeWitt Area Fire and Rescue, DeWitt Township Fire Department and Bath Township Fire Department arrived on scene to find an active fire…
