15 years after Voorheesville crash, families renew push for pedestrian safety awareness

VOORHEESVILLE, NY (WRGB) — Fifteen years after a driver impaired by prescription medication struck and killed three women in Voorheesville, the daughter of one of the victims is urging drivers and pedestrians to make safer choices on the road as Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month begins.

The crash happened outside of St. Matthew’s Church in Voorheesville, where three women were standing in the parking lot preparing for their morning walk when the vehicle hit them. The victims were identified as Frances Pallozzi, Rose Marie Hume and Carol Lansing.

The driver, Luann Burgess, was found to be impaired at the time of the crash but did not face jail time because she was not properly informed by her doctors about the medicine she was prescribed…
