A new restaurant with sweeping skyline opens above South Station

They say good things come in threes. For the South Station Tower—the $1.8-billion gleaming mixed-use 51-story building that finally wrapped construction last year—that means three new restaurants that opened today.

The Mosely, a “casual fine-dining restaurant,” according to Chicago-based Episcope Hospitality, is open to the public. The brand’s other two Boston concepts, Proper Fare and a separate “signature bar and lounge,” are only open to office tenants and residents of the building.

Perched on the ninth floor with sweeping skyline views, the Moseley sprawls over 10,000 square feet. Its design, by Boston-based firm Perkins&Will, nods to the location and local history. The restaurant itself is named after Alex Moseley, a Bostonian who owned a bustling leather and hide business on neighboring South Street in the late 1800s and helped shape the Leather District. Fitting for its location in one of Boston’s busiest travel hubs, curved white oak ceilings, wood panels, and bronze flourishes call to mind the design of traincars that crisscrossed Boston during Moseley’s time…
