LIBERTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The city of Liberty said City Council member William Bolt Cooley has been charged with driving under the influence.
The city said Cooley was charged in Greenville County by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
“This is a personal legal matter, and the City has not and will not be involved in any way in prosecuting or influencing the case,” the city said in a statement. “Because the City of Liberty has not been involved, the City cannot comment as to any of the specifics of the case, except to note that Mr. Cooley was not involved in City business at the time of the incident.”
