Armed Man In Critical Condition After Mental Health Crisis

La Vergne police officers took a person into protective custody after a mental health crisis involving multiple agencies Saturday.

The incident began when Smyrna police found the subject unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle. When officers attempted to assist, the subject became armed with a knife and fled, prompting a coordinated response. The La Vergne Police Department responded to the incident just after 1 p.m. and officers made contact with the subject around 1:22 p.m.
