Some Shawsville residents say proposed 349-unit Elliston development is a chance to grow — not a threat

ELLISTON, Va. – A proposed housing development that would bring hundreds of new homes to one of Montgomery County’s least populated areas is dividing the community — but not everyone in Elliston and Shawsville is opposed.

Three hundred forty-nine single-family homes and townhomes are proposed for a site directly behind Eastern Montgomery Elementary School in Elliston. The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the project at its Oct. 13 meeting.
