Sacramento Sizzles As Heat Advisory Brings 3 Days Of Triple-Digit Temps

Sacramento woke to clear skies and temperatures in the low 60s Monday, but the mild start will give way to a high near 100 degrees by afternoon. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday as the capital region heads into its hottest stretch of the week.

The National Weather Service expects widespread Moderate HeatRisk, with pockets of Major HeatRisk across the Sacramento Valley, Delta and foothills. Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity, drink plenty of water and check on older adults, neighbors and pets who may have a harder time staying cool.

Three Days Of Triple-Digit Heat

Tuesday and Wednesday are also forecast to reach about 100 degrees, with sunny skies, very dry air and only light winds offering little relief. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-60s, keeping some homes and buildings warm well into the evening.

This is a sharper update to the heat outlook covered in an earlier Hoodline forecast, with the advisory now covering the core of the hottest period. Thursday should still reach about 99 degrees, followed by a high near 97 on Friday.

Cooling Centers Open Through Thursday

The City of Sacramento has activated cooling centers during the heat advisory. The Outreach and Engagement Center at 3615 Auburn Blvd. is open around the clock through Thursday morning, while the North Fifth Street Navigation Center at 700 North Fifth St. is open daily from 1 to 8 p.m. through Wednesday, according to the Sacramento City Express…
