Convicted rapist sentenced for crimes in Baton Rouge and Livingston

A Walker man will spend 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping and beating two women in Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish.

David Coutee, 40, attacked the women in separate incidents in 2024, according to prosecutors. He beat one with a hammer and a flashlight and locked her in an attic, and he choked the other with a belt, forcing both to engage in unwanted sexual acts.

Coutee initially faced eight charges across both parishes, including first-degree rape and false imprisonment. He pleaded guilty on Sept. 28 to second-degree rape and second-degree battery in the Baton Rouge case, and to third-degree rape and aggravated battery in his Livingston case, receiving a sentence of 15 years in prison…
