Wichita nonprofit searches for solutions after crash causes $30,000 damage to building

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A nonprofit in Wichita is left in limbo after a car crashed into its office, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

The car drove straight into the side of the Urban League of Kansas learning center on Saturday shortly after 4 a.m. Wichita police said no one was in the vehicle when officers arrived.

The Urban League of Kansas runs programs to help underserved communities across the state. A spokesperson for the nonprofit said that the car was uninsured and was being driven by someone other than the owner.

The crash caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the building and made it unsafe to occupy, the spokesperson said. Without the driver’s insurance, the Urban League will have to pay a $5,000 deductible.
