COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – About a dozen Ohio laws take effect Tuesday, including measures requiring drivers to provide basic identifying information at traffic stops and mandating that schools teach students they are more likely to succeed if they get married before having children.
Gov. Mike DeWine signed 13 bills on July 7, all of which have an effective date of Tuesday, Oct. 6, according to the Ohio Legislature’s website.

Fifteen-foot buffer zone for police, other first responders
House Bill 20 prohibits people, after receiving a warning, from knowingly approaching or remaining within 15 feet of a first responder while interfering with the responder’s duties or threatening the responder with physical harm. Violators could face a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000.
