Myrtle Beach marks 11 straight months of below-average rainfall as drought persists

Heading into the final quarter of 2026, October through December, the Carolinas continue to see month after month of below-average rainfall, particularly along the Grand Strand and in the Myrtle Beach area.

September was particularly dry, with Myrtle Beach measuring a mere 2.51 inches of rain, compared with an average of 6.65 inches, while Florence and Lumberton both recorded less than an inch of rain.

The more notable statistics concern the official Myrtle Beach recording site itself, starting in November 2025.

From November 2025 through September 2026, every month has seen below-average precipitation, with several months significantly below average.
