JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — CommUnity Crisis Services is expanding its workforce and crisis-response programs after securing about $20 million in new programming, leading the organization to increase its access to operating credit as it takes on the new work.
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to approve the request, putting Hills Bank ahead of the county when it comes to the mortgage on Healing Prairie Farm. That means if CommUnity were to default and the property were foreclosed on, Hills Bank would be paid before the county. Supervisor Lisa Green-Douglass cast the only no vote.
CommUnity emphasized during the meeting that the financing is part of planning for the organization’s rapid growth, not a response to financial distress.
