The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division conducted a three-day joint enforcement operation from Sept. 24-26, in coordination with U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Grand Isle, New Orleans Air and Marine Operations, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE-ERO) New Orleans.
The joint operation consisted of two maritime-based patrols conducted on Sept. 24 and 25, followed by a land-based enforcement operation on Sept. 26 in Plaquemines, Jefferson and Terrebonne parishes. The operation focused on commercial and recreational fisheries enforcement while providing enhanced operational support through coordination with federal partners.
During the first two days of maritime operations, participating agencies encountered 54 individuals. LDWF enforcement agents issued one citation for an oyster harvest sanitation code violation.
