Additional Coverage:

John Owen Lowe shared a poignant message of hope following the tragic passing of his 13-year-old cousin, Fiona.

The 30-year-old actor, known for his role in Unstable, posted Emily Dickinson’s poem “Hope Is the Thing With Feathers” on his Instagram stories. While he did not explicitly mention Fiona, the timing of the tribute resonated deeply in light of the recent loss.

The poem reads in part:

*“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all…”

Fiona was the daughter of actor Chad Lowe-John Owen’s uncle-and Chad’s wife, Kim Painter. Chad is also the younger brother of The West Wing star Rob Lowe. The family announced Fiona’s passing on September 29, sharing that she died on September 27.

In their statement, Chad and Kim described Fiona as a loving, intelligent, and creative young girl with a passion for dance. They remembered her as a cherished sister and the light of their lives, requesting privacy as they cope with their profound loss.

The Lowe family has been publicly honoring Fiona’s memory, with her older sister, Mabel, sharing an emotional tribute expressing love and hope for her sister’s peace. Their grandfather, Charles Lowe, also posted a heartfelt message alongside a photograph of Fiona.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Fiona’s death was a result of suicide. The family’s initial statement included resources for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline to raise awareness about mental health support.

Rob Lowe has reportedly been providing support to Chad and the family during this difficult period.

John Owen, who has worked closely with his father Chad on projects such as The Lowe Files and Unstable, has not made further public comments beyond his Instagram tribute.
