CLEVELAND (WJW) — Months after a Cleveland man purchased a lottery ticket he discovered it was worth thousands — and he had very little time to claim his prize!
According to the Ohio Lottery, in June, Wayne Hilliard purchased a $1 PICK 5 ticket and set it aside. He told the lottery that he tucked the ticket away in a bag and just recently checked the numbers, discovering that he had matched all five numbers in the exact order to win $50,000.

According to a media release, the winning ticket was purchased June 16. Lottery rules state a winner only has 180 days to validate and cash a winning ticket.
Lottery officials said the odds of the straight win are just 1 in 100,000.
