DETROIT — A city program aimed at attracting new residents and helping current families stay in Detroit has drawn more than 6,500 applicants from across the country.

The Make Detroit Home program, launched by the city and nonprofit partner MoveDetroit, offers grants to people who move to, return to or remain in Detroit. Depending on the grant, funding can help with moving costs, securing a home, or expanding a business.
