ALPR Alert Leads Officers to Stolen Truck and Two Arrests in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – An automatic license plate reader alerted Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) officers to a stolen pickup truck, resulting in the arrest of a man and woman with outstanding warrants.

An MPD officer patrolling South Rutherford Boulevard near John Bragg Highway received an alert from the ALPR about a stolen white Chevrolet 1500. After confirming with dispatch that the pickup was listed as stolen in the National Crime Information Center database, the officer conducted a felony traffic stop.

The driver, 43-year-old Kenneth Phillips, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle on Sunday (October 4th). The passenger, 34-year-old Dorothy White, took off running during the stop, but responding officers quickly apprehended her after a brief foot pursuit.
