Newark sports bar joins a growing list of familiar names lost as operators confront higher labor, food, insurance and occupancy costs
NEWARK, Del. — The Greene Turtle in Newark has closed after more than a decade in business, becoming the latest familiar restaurant to disappear from New Castle County as an industry known for thin profit margins confronts persistent increases in the cost of doing business.
The restaurant closed Saturday, Oct. 3, during the University of Delaware’s Parents and Family Weekend, traditionally one of the stronger traffic weekends for Newark businesses.
