Infant expected to survive after suffering brain bleed, broken ribs in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — An infant from Lincoln is expected to survive after suffering a number of injuries that could have taken her life.

The 42-day-old girl is recovering at Children’s Hospital in Omaha as of Tuesday. According to police, the infant suffered life-threatening injuries at the hands of her mother, 20-year-old Kayleigh Lowe.

Court records show Lowe likely slammed the baby’s head against the floor of her Lincoln home, threw her in the air and squeezed her ribs. As a result, police say the infant suffered seven broken ribs and bleeding on both sides of her brain…
