WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita City Council voted 7-0 on Tuesday to improve security by placing bollards around a popular downtown park.
Naftzger Park was rebuilt in 2019 and has hosted a large number of community events. But it wasn’t built with permanent security in mind.
For events that draw thousands, city staff have placed temporary barriers around the park to keep people safe. The city said it costs workers’ time to set them up and remove them.
