West Bountiful is weighing a concept for 884 homes on 174 acres along the east side of Legacy Parkway, a plan that would bring townhomes and condos to a part of the city long zoned for farms and one-acre lots.
City officials presented the West Side Area Plan to residents at a June 29 community meeting that included a vague warning about impending state preemption of local zoning authority if cities continue to block attainable housing development.
The concept stitches together two properties. Ivory Homes owns the northern 85.5 acres, known as Belmont, where it has started its Belmont Farms estate-lot community.
