Chattanooga city council backs $27 million plan to rebuild, expand former police HQ

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga City Council members have agreed on a plan to rebuild and expand the former police headquarters on Amnicola Highway, moving forward with a nearly $27 million project to address long-standing mold problems.

The plan calls for rebuilding the mold-infested building using its existing foundation while adding a north-side expansion.

The project will be funded through the city’s fund balance, money set aside from prior budget years.
