PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth Police Department is working to take back the community on the heels of a quadruple shooting, holding its National Night Out event Tuesday night at Festival Park.

It’s safe to say it was a fun day for residents like Joanne Culpepper and her great-granddaughter.
“I really love it because I have been volunteering, and this is the time I’m just walking around with my grandbaby. So I’m enjoying it,” Culpepper said.
The police department had to reschedule the original NNO date this year because of weather conditions, but with food, music, animals, resources and connection, it used the National Night Out event to build connections with the community…
