Iowa Interstate Shooter Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charges
(West Des Moines, IA) — A West Des Moines man accused of shooting at other vehicles on Interstate 35 faces four counts of attempted murder. A criminal complaint says 27-year old Andrew Tanaka fired several rounds at two cars on Monday, striking one of the drivers in the shoulder. Tanaka continued northbound, rear-ending a third vehicle and firing at least one round into its windshield. Investigators say Tanaka told them he “had to kill people today.” He remains held in the Warren County Jail on a million-dollar bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 16th.
