Wisconsin has a proud history of fighting to enact groundbreaking civil rights legislation and establishing programs that promote equal opportunity for those who have suffered discrimination. This commitment to equity has served our state well and should continue to do so.
But the state’s commitment to equity is now under threat.
Cynical allies of President Donald Trump have schemed to undermine the accomplishments of the Civil Rights Era, and to reverse progress that’s been made during recent decades toward gender equity, racial justice, dignity and fairness.
