MADISON, Wis. — Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway on Tuesday released her proposed 2027 executive operating budget, which calls for $477.5 million in general and library fund expenditures.
The proposal represents a $24.8 million, or 5.5%, increase from the 2026 adopted budget. The general fund is the city’s primary operating fund.
The public safety and health category would increase from $186.3 million in 2026 to $194.8 million in 2027. That category includes funding for police work as well as the Office of the Independent Monitor.
Body-worn cameras are included in Rhodes-Conway’s proposed operating and capital budgets, as well as Dane County Executive Melissa Agard’s proposed 2027 budget. Madison police officers do not currently wear body-worn cameras…
