Madison’s Interim Police Monitor faces scrutiny

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A City Attorney’s office review of Madison’s Interim Independent Police Monitor, Aeiramique Glass, is raising questions about her job performance — but the city’s own police oversight board says that document isn’t her official evaluation at all.

The Review’s Findings

The review, dated October 2, 2026, was prompted by “inquiries from the public and alders,” according to the document. Glass was hired as Interim Independent Police Monitor effective December 8, 2025. Nearly 10 months later, the review raises several concerns:

Hiring process incomplete. Glass’s primary job duty was serving as hiring manager to recruit her own permanent replacement. The review states that, nearly 10 months in, there is still no approved position description, no job posting, no completed candidate screening or interviews, and no candidates referred for consideration.

Compliance with city rules. The review says Glass refused to provide contractor and investigator information to the City Attorney’s office and bypassed the city’s standard contracting process when retaining outside counsel. In a July 31, 2026 email included in the review, Glass wrote to the City Attorney: “We do not have to comply with APMs other than what we do in good faith when I feel comfortable doing so.”…
