Saline Council Selects Interim City Manager

Saline City Council passed a resolution to enter into contract discussions with Elke Doom for the position of interim city manager. The resolution was passed on Oct. 5 in a 4-3 vote after discussions regarding continuity in the role.

“At this time, when the city is continuing to address previous unresolved matters, and with the upcoming departure of the city treasurer, I believe maintaining that continuity is particularly important,” council member Janet Dillon. “Changing leadership again at this point would require additional time for another individual to become familiar with our staff, operations, outstanding issues, and the work already underway.”

Elke Doom and Thomas Thomas were the two candidates considered for the interim city manager role. Both were interviewed by Council and both have extensive experience in city management.
