Charlottesville reworks winter weather plan after last January’s ice storm

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Charlottesville Public Works is reworking its winter weather playbook after last January’s icy storm caught Central Virginia off guard. The city is taking a more hands-on and collaborative approach.

Charlottesville Public Works Director Steven Hicks said this year’s preparation is more of a focus after lessons learned from the January 24 storm.

“It’s a one team approach,” Hicks said. “It’s a city plan. It’s just not a public works plan.”…
