If I invited you to join me at a place with a DJ, you’d probably picture a warehouse with thumping house music and lots of sweaty bodies. If I invited you to a downtown restaurant, maybe you would envision a steakhouse, or shrimp and grits.
South Main Social is neither of those and its name doesn’t do this restaurant, bar and music studio justice.
While they may have a disc jockey in the evening, their audio system is so finely tuned my wife and I were able to have a normal conversation while also admiring the high fidelity. As TJ our waiter brought me a bourbon cocktail smoked in a Booker’s box, slid open the box’s lid and confidently described the drink’s recipe, Steely Dan was reminding us how excited their neighborhood would be when Josie gets home: “When Josie comes home, So good, She’s the pride of the neighborhood, She’s the raw flame, The live wire, She prays like a Roman with her eyes on fire.”…
