Louisiana churches asked to help foster children through new state initiative

BATON ROUGE, La. (KSLA) – The Department of Children and Family Services joined forces with churches statewide to bring a new initiative to foster families across Louisiana.

An initiative built on community

The initiative, “A Home for Every Child,” is built around the idea that communities, including churches, can help make sure no child has to wait alone for care, connection and support.

At Bethany Church in Baton Rouge, state leaders called on congregations across Louisiana to be part of that effort.

“Faith-based congregations they have a heart for service. That is the mission of the church in the church Louisiana; here is a state made of faith and culture and community. They are staples all across Louisiana. They have been here like Gov Jeff Landry said here long before the government and the more that we can invest in our churches and here’s how you can help the better Louisiana is going to be,” a speaker said…
