According to plant pro Zander Caruso of Barton Springs Nursery, these uncommon trees and shrubs offer homeowners an opportunity to add distinctive plants to their landscapes while supporting native ecosystems.
“Many of these species are difficult to find in the nursery trade,” Zander explains. “They’re unique plants that can thrive in Texas landscapes while helping preserve important native genetics.”
Rare Finds for Texas Gardens
Among the specialty plants currently available are:

- Chalk maple
- Mexican Cloud Forest maple
