Milwaukee man scheduled to face check fraud charges in Marathon County

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – A 44-year-old Milwaukee man is scheduled to be formally charged Oct. 14 following a Marathon County investigation into check fraud.

Court documents say the suspect, Eric Bush will be charged with forgery and identity theft.

The investigation began in June after a business owner reported that an unauthorized check had been cashed from a business account. The check was made payable to Bush and cashed June 13, according to court documents. The business owner told investigators she did not issue the check and did not know Bush.

Investigators said Bush provided his driver’s license and phone numbers when he cashed the check. A Marathon County sheriff’s deputy reviewed bank surveillance video and vehicle-location data as part of the investigation, the criminal complaint says…
