ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford City Council approved a series of zoning, infrastructure, housing and tourism-related measures during its Oct. 5 meeting, including plans for new commercial and industrial development, transitional housing, stormwater improvements and a regional tourism district.
Among the zoning actions approved was a map amendment for properties at 1810 and 1818 Morgan St., changing the designation from single-family residential to light industrial. Council members also approved a special use permit allowing a trucking company to operate at the site with outdoor storage for up to 10 semi-trucks and trailers, subject to site, landscaping, parking and other development requirements.
Council also approved a zoning amendment for property on South Main Street, changing its designation from light industrial to general commercial.
